Photographer

I have decided to take the plunge. I have decided to take a chance, to see what happens and what i can create. I have decided to try my hand at photography!! And I am totally pumped about it. "What has brought about this new direction in your life?" you may ask. Well, I suppose for starters it's not so new. I have loved taking pictures and making memories last via photos for quite some time. However, it was not until a friend of mine asked me to shoot her wedding that I had the thought to put myself out there as an actual aspiring photographer. The inspiration came when I realized that I truly loved it. It was so much fun! Afterward all I wanted to do was another wedding, engagement, or any photo shoot. So I posted an ad on Craigslist using pictures from the solitary engagement and wedding shoot that I had done. Guess what? I actually had some takers! Since then i have booked one wedding that I will be doing in a couple of weeks and I've done one other engagement shoot. Many friends have seen my work and have shown interest in having fall family photos done as well!

As I start this exciting new adventure in my life I just want to say thanks for all the folks that have been so very supportive. First, Josh (husband) he has been to every shoot (3) that i have done. He has carried equipment, brought me water, and even taken a picture or two himself. I could not ask for a better husband or a bigger fan. Second, all that gals at work on the stroke unit at UK, these girls have looked at a ton of pictures and listened to all my rants and raves through all this and the encouragement has been incredible and overwhelming. And last, but not least, Evva Allen who actually trusted me enough to let me do her wedding and engagement photos. Without that shoot I would never have even thought about putting myself out there.

Here are a few of the pictures from Chris and Evva's engagement and wedding shoots!

  1. Hey Raye! That's great! Good luck and hope you get as much work as you want... believe me, after a while you'll make sure you're compensated well. One of the best things you can do right now is to get as many set up ideas as possible -- the internet is great for that! Also, light is the difference in average and outstanding photos... always watch the light!
