Black and White Challenge and Sneak Peek

I had the honor of being the photographer for close friends of mine Garrett and Leeah Duff this past weekend (Click here to view their engagement pictures that I took in February). We got some great photos that I will be posting as soon as I get done with editing all of them. This is a favorite of mine and I thought of it when I saw the I Heart Faces challenge this week.

Living Room Update,Give Away, and Awesome Coupon Code

I just thought I would update you on how my quest to cover my living room walls is going. I am pretty happy about what I have, however I do plan to redo it slightly in the future (when life slows down). So here is the before picture of my living room walls again.

And here they are now...

Not bad I think. The only thing is that it was going to be like $25 (at 60% off) at Michael's for just a mat for my 16x20 photos so Josh and I decided to just use heavy poster board. Well, as you can probably see in the picture it is starting to bubble a little bit. However, the other day I saw that hobby lobby sells sheets of large mat board for around $8! So I plan to replace the ghetto mats as soon as I can get a hobby lobby coupon! I plan to get more pictures hung around my house soon! I just ordered some wedding photos that I am going to frame and hang up!

As promised I have extra prints and I am going to giveaway three of them! The pictures of the extras are posted below, but here's how you can win. I will be drawing next Saturday for the winner. You can get your name in the pot once by leaving a comment on my blog with your top three picks if you win, once again for becoming a follower of my blog (click on the "follow" button to the left), and once more for sharing this about this giveaway on your blog or facebook! If you are already a follower just tell me in your comment and I will add your name again and if you posted about this giveaway let me know in your comment! Here are the prints you could win, there are three 8x10s and four 16x20 prints.

One more thing that I am so excited to share with you! I found out about a website via Saving Money Living Life that prints photobooks called Picaboo. They are having an AWESOME deal for a FREE 20 page photobook. You just pay for shipping and handling $8.99! You can add more pages for $1.99 per page. This deal ends March 31st so hurry up and get your pictures together. I instantly decided to see if this deal would work, because I have heard about deals like this and as they say, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is". But this deal is the real thing! Just click here and give them your email address. You have to download their software to design the book, but I think that it was all very easy! I just received my book in the mail on Thursday! I did a portfolio for my business, but this would make a great present for Mother's Day or any day! Here's my new photobook!

Click here if you want to view my entire album online.

In photography news, I am happy to announce that I book another wedding this week! This makes a total of three I will be doing this year so far! I also hope to start doing engagement, family, kids, and any other type of photoshoot I can as soon as the weather makes everything green and pretty!

Blog Makeover and Weddings Page

If you check me out with any kind of regularity you have noticed that I have tried out some different looks to my blog. The reason is that I love colors and patterns and would like to incorporate that into my blog. However, all the free layouts I have found seem to limit the size of photo I can publish. If you picture is too large it is cut off in a most undesirable fashion. Since my blog is pretty much completely devoted to my photography I have decided to go with a plain white background that will allow me to post larger pictures!

Another new thing that I have recently discovered is that I can add pages to my blog. I direct you attention upward to my "Weddings" page. I have posted my pricing for weddings and will soon be posting some wedding pictures! I am very excited about this new discovery and cannot wait until the weekend when I'll have time to work on this. I have plans for an "Engagement", "Family", and "Fashion" page! If you can think of any others I should add let me know!

If you really hate the plain look let me know, I might reconsider if there is an overwhelming majority that dislikes it!

Also, I will hopefully will be having a giveaway in the next week or so of some prints of the photos I took in Frankfort! So stay on the lookout for that!

Frankfort in February and Living Room Project

I just did some painting and remodeling in my living room. Since this room was a neutral color and the walls were not in bad shape it was one room that I decided could wait a little later for my womans touch. I had a few days off and decided to put them to good use by painting and having Josh and Kenneth put up some chair rail. Here's the before and after.

This is before we moved in...eww

This was after we moved in...

And this is the finished project... for now.

I'm pretty happy with it. I wanted color, but not the entire room to be one color. Which is why I went with the chair rail. HOWEVER, if you didnt notice my walls are empty, completely void of artwork or nail hole. I decided that instead of going out and finding a picture from a store I would try to go out and photograph some lovely sites in the local area. So last Saturday Josh and I headed to his hometown and our state capitol...Frankfort.

We went to many places and I was pretty happy with the pictures considering that the day was a little drab, overcast, and cold. We headed down to the river which is a beautiful green color that was stunning along side one of the rusted old bridges. We also went to the Forks of Elkhorn Creek where there is a dam/water fall. My favorite pictures came from Liberty Hall (old house/museum) where I found a large patch of yellow crocuses (I think). These little flowers were quite stunning sitting a top of the snow that had not yet melted. The last stop was my in-law's house where I snapped a few pictures of the horses and birds that were gathering around the feeders.

So here are some of the pictures. I've ordered large prints of some of these for my living room and probably other places around the house since this is not the only room in the house where I have neglected the walls. Please let me know what you think and if you like any of these let me know and I will quote you a price on a print! Also, keep on the lookout because I ordered extra prints and I may have a giveaway soon!!
